Water Innovation and Reuse Lab (August 2022 - Present)
Investigating the ability of anammox bacteria to degrade nitrogen-containing chemicals in wastewater
PI: Dr. Natalie Mladenov
Utilization of fluorescence spectroscopy, ion chromatography, and long-term tracking of nitrogen species and total organic carbon in the establishment of two upflow anammox bioreactors for the use in studies investigating anammox bacteria capabilities to indiscriminately digest ammonium-containing compounds in wastewater.
This project is a continuation of WIRLab’s initiative to develop a low cost and low maintenance anammox reactor to be used in decentralized wastewater treatment systems for the removal of ammonium from wastewater.

NSF-funded Project on Alleviating Workforce Aging Crisis (June 2021 - August 2021)
Conducting Preliminary Investigation for Project Proposal Writing
PI: Dr. Shangping Ren
CO-PIs: Dr.Baris Aksanli and Dr. Audrey Beck
Under Dr. Baris Aksanli's guidance, I served as a Research Assistant in the NSF-funded project – “SCC-PG: Building an Integrative Community Platform to Alleviate the Workforce Aging Crisis." The goal of the project revolved around creating an interdisciplinary approach to capturing tacit human knowledge responsible for task-related intuition of experienced employees. My contributions included auditing academic publications in the realm of HiL-CPSs, HMI, and Internet of Things, briefing primary investigators on studies relevant to tacit human knowledge capture, integration, and automatization, and authoring a final report on my findings to assist with research proposal writing.
